Course description

This course will teach you how to relax into a very calming meditation experience where you will feel infinite stillness, quietness and profound wellbeing. As the course develops you ll achieve this enriching and empowering state of mind with greater ease, thereby promoting self value/confidence, emotional stability and a greater sense of control in your life.

All are welcome to join this class whether you are a newcomer or have some experience

What the course will cover

We use approaches to slow down the conscious mind allowing a very reassuring and fulfilling meditation state to develop; this is particularly useful for people whose mind is so active they feel relaxation is impossible. How to reduce and minimise unresourceful mental health.

Teaching and learning activities

You will learn a variety of techniques, some drawn from spiritual disciplines and also modern psychology, to achieve the depth and duration of meditation experience you desire. Your progress will be greatly assisted by playing the Course CD during the week to consolidate learning.

What you will be able to do by the end of the course (Course objectives)

You will discover that calm and resourceful feelings will increasingly naturally occur in your everyday life, and in particular those times that previously would have caused stress, anxiety, fear, or conflict. So you can feel more stable, calm and resourceful whatever situation, setting, context or person you face.

Examination or qualification (if applicable) including costs. The course fee usually includes examination costs: registration with the exam board, certification and administration fees. If the fees are not included, the brochure will tell you this.

No exams.

Work expected outside lesson time (e.g. homework, assignments, etc.)

Home practice is helpful. There is a course CD to help practice accessing a calm, resourceful state of mind from which mindfulness springs. Cost is £12

What you can do next

You will have grown in your personal understanding of how your mind works, and your own ability and inclination to access calm and resourceful states of mind. Therefore, further study of psychology or other personal development work could be most appealing.

Additional information - General

At the beginning of the course, you will have an induction to the College and the course. Your tutor will ask you to complete a Student Learning Record (SLR) and agree your personal learning goals. All documents are a requirement of the Funding Agencies. All students on courses funded by the SFA or the EFA must complete a Learning Agreement and SLR.
